A few pounds down...

Just had to post how excited I was yesterday when I put on a pair of jeans that I have not worn since before I was pregnant for Emily!! I have been losing some weight this past month. I am about 13 pounds down! I decided not to actually go on a diet, but just eat smaller portions, not snack as often and not eat after dinner. I use to snack all night long. I want to be able to keep the weight off and make it longterm. Anyways I was just very excited. It felt really good. I want to be more healthy and active with my kids this summer.

Reading Church signs

Every day that I go to visit my dad at the rehab center I drive past a church that puts clever sayings on their sign out front. This past week it says "Seven days without prayer makes one weak". Now most churches have a signs that have clever sayings on them, but this one really hit home with me. I have been thinking about it a lot lately. I will admit that I need to pray more, I'm sure we all can say that. I have been going to the Lord for guidance more in the past few months, but I know I need to be more faithful. He is almighty and without him I am nothing. I know that the power of prayer works, I saw it when my mom was so sick and was on life support in 2005. God answers prayers, maybe not always how we want or expect him to. Anyways, back to the sign. I felt like that was put there for me to see. I am great at praying when something major happens, but I need to pray daily and thank and praise God for everything in my life. I am so blessed with beautiful, healthy children, an awesome Husband who loves me so much and is my best friend, and I have a great extended family and great friends. So as that message replays in my head daily I will pray daily.

My new Favorite Picture

Emily is really into giving kisses and blowing kisses right now. The other night I took this adorable pic of Emily getting ready to give her daddy a kiss! Nothing better than a daddy and his little girl.

My Dad is now at Rehab

My dad was moved to the Eaton County Rehab yesterday. Hopefully he can work hard and be home with my mom in a few weeks. It's hard to see him there and leave him every day but I know its the best place for him. He will get the best physical therapy there and be strong when he gets home. Please continue to keep my parents in your prayers. Emily enjoys running the halls when we go visit. She puts smiles on everyones faces including the other patients. Today she gave her papa a great big kiss!

A little bit of this and that

So I have a few minutes and thought I would sit down and update everyone.

I just got back from the hospital. My dad is doing better today. They took his tube out of his throat and nose late last night and when I got their he was sitting up in a chair eating a little jello and sipping juice. His stomach is doing better and the doctor believes that the partial bowel blockage is working it self out and he won't need surgery! Praise God! He is a little discouraged today. He has been in the hospital a week and really wants to be home with my mom. The plan now is to make sure his stomach is doing good and then get him transferred to Eaton County Rehabilitation Center for up to 2 weeks. My mom has been spending her days at the hospital. Us kids are helping her get to and from the hospital since she can't drive my dad's truck. It will be a little more challenging once he is moved to Charlotte, but we will manage. Emily always seems to put a smile on my dad's face when we visit him every afternoon. She loves her Papa. I will update as soon as I know more about when he is being moved. Please keep praying for a speedy recovery and for a positive outlook on his part so he can get through therapy.

Emily is now 15 months old. She is growing so fast. She is mastering new words every week. Her newest are sit and blankie. She loves giving kisses and blowing kisses. Kyle is always greeted at the door every day after work with a hug and kiss from his baby girl.

Last weekend we took the kids to pick out paint colors for their new bedrooms. Hannah quickly decided on a pretty purple lilac. The boys have mutually decided they want a green color since they want to decorate their room like a rain forest. Snakes, lizards, monkeys... etc. That is fine with us but they want this really dark forest green and we are trying to explain to them it is to dark especially because they are in the basement and the ceilings are lower. So the other day Kyle and I found a nice green color called "hanging vines" I am hoping they will go for it since it sounds like a color that would be in a rain forest!

Kyle's work is picking back up! Praise God for that. It was a little tight the last month. Construction is such a hard business to be in right now in the state of Michigan. It did make us take a look at where we spend our money and how much we do waste. I am working on getting us on a budget and trying to have more savings for when work is slow.

Brayden did well at his tournament on Sunday. We were at Okemos. He took 2nd! He is wrestling so hard this year. It is so intense sometimes! We are taking this coming weekend off. We all need a break. The following weekend Eaton Rapids is hosting a tournament. So that will be nice and close.

Well I should go for now, Emily is still naping and I need to get some housework done.

Need more Prayers for my Dad

Last Thursday my dad fell in their basement and broke his hip. He is now at the hospital in Eaton Rapids. He had a partial hip replacement on Friday and that went good. He will be going to get rehabilitation at a rehab center for about 2 weeks when he leaves the hospital. Over the weekend he started having some serious stomach gas and his stomach was so swollen and hard he looked about 8 months pregnant. Of course he can't move around much so he is very uncomfortable. When I visited him this morning they had put a tube down his throat into his stomach to try to get some of the acid and air out of his stomach. He is not very happy about having the tube in his nose and throat but hopefully it will relieve the pressure and he can start to focus on getting better. My mom is doing pretty good. She spends most of her day at the hospital with him. I go as much as possible and their is plenty of family that is stopping by too. Please keep them in your prayers the next few weeks. Pray for a speedy recovery for my dad and that he can stay positive about going to rehab and working through the pain. I will keep everyone updated as things change. It has been a rough few months with the house fire, my dad's prostate cancer diagnois and now this.
